Getting the most out of a day in the Rosario Islands

The Rosario Islands are best experienced with good pacing, a well-chosen route, and enough flexibility to make the day feel relaxed.

NAVITA’s island hopping experiences are built around private boats, selective stops, and practical local judgment — so the day feels less rushed, less crowded, and better suited to your group.

What the day usually looks like

Marina arrival and boarding

We confirm departure details in advance so the day starts clearly and smoothly.

Navigation toward the islands

From Cartagena, the route opens gradually from bay waters into the Rosario archipelago.

Swim or snorkeling stop

Depending on your route and the conditions, we can include time for a swim or snorkeling stop.

Lunch and anchorage

The day can include a beach club reservation, a calmer anchorage, or a route shaped more around time at sea.

The Route

The Rosario Islands are usually around 45 to 60 minutes from Cartagena by speedboat, depending on the vessel and the sea conditions.

From there, the day can take different shapes: a scenic pass around Isla Grande, a swim stop near reef areas, lunch at a beach club, or time anchored in calmer water.

The best route depends on the mood of the day, the type of boat, and the conditions offshore. We help shape that before departure, and adjust when needed.

Things to know before you go

Are your charters private or shared? All NAVITA departures are private. The boat is reserved only for your group, and the timing and route are planned around your day.
What happens if the weather changes? Conditions in the bay and offshore can be very different. If needed, the captain may adjust the route, timing, or stop sequence based on safety and comfort.
Is there a national park fee? Some Rosario routes may involve a protected area fee. If it applies to your plan, we’ll let you know before departure.
Do you provide bilingual hosts? Captains usually work in Spanish. If you would like extra onboard support in English, we can often arrange a bilingual host upon request.
How far are the Rosario Islands from Cartagena? Most routes begin with a crossing of around 45 to 60 minutes by speedboat, depending on the boat and sea conditions.
